Snow shovels and champagne powder.

Buried

Hope they're not in a rush to get home!

Over past 36 hours Nozawa has been buried under 130cm of fresh dry Japanese powder. What a way to bring in the new year! Those trying to leave the town today will first be confronted with the task of locating and then digging out their cars (see today’s picture). Those hanging around will be lucky enough to experience some famous Japanese champagne powder.

Today should see a brief respite from the dumping snow, but only until this evening. With another 20cm expected overnight the snow shovels won’t get much of a rest.
