Phone and data communication for visitors to Japan has long been a bit of a hassle. Most countries you travel to you can just buy a local Sim Card pop it in your own phone and away you go. In Japan this has not been possible until recently!

So great news for anyone coming up to Japan to ski this season. There are a few decent options out there but after researching and trials we have decided to partner with IIjmio Sim Cards as they seem the most user friendly.

Still not perfect in my opinion but a big step forward. You get 2 GB of Data for 4320 Yen. It is high speed, rechargeable, no daily limits and valid for 3 months.

Note it is Data only so you don’t get a phone number and with just the sim cannot make or take calls. But there are a few options

– You can simply set up a skype account and call people on skype for free or get a skype out account set up and get a phone number and make calls for good rates using your data or wifi if in a wifi area. Note there are now lots in Nozawa and all over Japan!

– Brastel , the Sim Card comes with a Brastel card As an option you can also get a phone number in Japan allowing you to receive incoming calls, and you may even continue using it after returning to your home country, with other SIM cards or Wi-Fi.

Hope it helps. You can buy on the link on our web page https://www.nozawaholidays.com
