Given the warmer temperatures and sun, the snowpack has held particularly well. We’ve lost some base since the last huge dump, though there are still some good runs to be had, particularly higher up. Lower down on the mountain things were getting a bit slushy but hopefully some cooler temps during the night have firmed the pistes up. The Yamabiko A course has reopened today so you might be able to score some fresher snow over that side of the mountain.

Today’s looking like a fairly warm day. The sun is out and the mercury is sitting at around 4°C. Clouds should start forming as the lifts are closing this evening. These clouds will likely stick around for the weekend, with a possible chance of rain. Fortunately things will be cooling down again from Monday night onwards, with some decent snowfalls on the horizon for midweek.

Tonight on the Hikage slopes is the annual Tomyo Winter Night Festival. There will be performances from a group called “Camara”, with free Sake and ice cream, followed by a torch run down the Hikage slope and fireworks. It should be a wonderful evening so be sure to get there. Here’s some more information from the Nozawa Resort website.
