Its such a nice morning in Nozawa Onsen today. We have light winds, cold temperatures, bluebird sunshine and plenty of fresh pow. Nice! Since close of lifts we have had an additional 20cm fall across the resort. With all the fresh snow tree runs are gradually filling in and the groomed runs are very nice also.

Top picks today will be the un-groomed blacks early and Yamabiko trees. We have Japanese holidays between Christmas and just after New Years so the slopes are busier than usual. Although it makes for a good opportunity to explore the quieter side corners of the resort, and adds a festive atmosphere to the village.

Yesterday was cold and snow showers gradually increased during the afternoon, peaking overnight. Strong winds across the higher areas made it feel much colder and it was best to seek shelter amongst tree lined runs.

Looking at the forecast ahead we should see a mix of snow showers and clear skies over the next three days. A moderate dump is still looking possible beginning new years day with colder temperatures and a moist north west airstream.
